Junior mining companies often become associated with one project and one geological thesis. CDN Maverick Capital Corp. (CSE: CDN) (OTCQB: AXVEF) takes a different approach.

The Vancouver-based explorer describes itself as a project generator. Rather than committing its entire treasury to a single property, CDN Maverick has assembled exploration projects, royalties and securities positions that offer several possible routes to value.

That structure gives investors more than one asset to follow. It also gives the company more flexibility with its financing decisions. Equity and cash from previous deals can be used to help fund exploration of a current project, potentially relieving pressure to issue new shares while developing another property for the next deal.

As a result of smart management and an effective model, CDN Maverick boasts a relatively low count of about 21 million issued and outstanding shares with no long term debt on the books. The company is currently focused on advancing its 100%-owned Nottaway property in Quebec. Nottaway is the crown jewel of a sprawling set of over 1,000 claims covering almost 57,000 hectares in the James Bay region of Quebec. It is a classic volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) play with lead, zinc, and silver potential, while other claim groups in the area are prospective for lithium pegmatite.

A Project Generator With a Technical Focus

The basic logic of the project-generator model is straightforward. A small company identifies or acquires prospective ground, completes enough technical work to improve its value, and then decides whether to drill it directly, bring in a partner, sell it or retain exposure through shares, warrants and royalties.

That flexibility can be useful in mineral exploration, where drilling is expensive and even attractive geological targets frequently fail. Instead of trying to advance every property toward development, a project generator can concentrate its own capital on the opportunities it considers strongest while preserving some upside elsewhere.

CDN Maverick has used several versions of that playbook. It currently holds exploration ground in Quebec and the Rainbow Canyon gold property in Nevada. It also has securities exposure tied to Noram Lithium (TSXV: NRM) (OTCQB: NRVTF) and Kingman Minerals (TSXV: KGS) (OTCQB: KGSSF). CDN’s 2023 sale of the Nevasca lithium-brine project to NOA Lithium (TSXV: NOAL) offers both a securities asset and a retained royalty agreement.

The portfolio provides optionality, and Nottaway is where the company is focusing its current efforts. It is the project that could currently do the most to reinforce CDN Maverick’s credibility as an explorer.

Nottaway Moves to Center Stage

The Nottaway property is located approximately 75 kilometers north-northeast of Matagami in Quebec’s James Bay region. CDN Maverick controls 106 active claims covering about 5,824 hectares, within a broader Quebec land position that also includes the Chabinoche and Poncheville claim groups.

The property is being explored primarily for volcanogenic massive-sulphide, or VMS, mineralization. These systems can contain combinations of zinc, copper, lead, silver and gold.

What makes Nottaway interesting is that historical work established evidence of a sulphide-bearing system while leaving several important geophysical targets unresolved.

SOQUEM drilled five holes totaling 875 meters in 2015. That program intersected sulphide-bearing horizons, including a reported 2.85-meter interval of massive sulphides composed mainly of pyrrhotite and pyrite. Historical drilling also returned anomalous base- and precious-metal values.

The more consequential part of the story came from subsequent geophysical reinterpretation. That work concluded that some of the historical holes may have been inaccurately positioned or oriented to test the principal electromagnetic conductors. One modeled plate, with estimated conductivity of approximately 500 siemens per meter, remains untested.

A Defined Drill Test

CDN Maverick filed an NI 43-101 technical report for Nottaway in October 2025. The recommended program combines surface and borehole electromagnetic work, gravity surveying, hydrogeochemistry and approximately 2,700 meters of drilling.

The company subsequently received Quebec authorization for diamond drilling on February 16, 2026, valid for 2 years with an option to extend a further 12 months, giving CDN Maverick a regulatory path to begin testing the targets. The drill program is planned to commence in the winter.

This is the central near-term catalyst for investors. Nottaway has advanced beyond regional target generation and into the stage where drilling can evaluate specific subsurface conductors. Successful holes could justify systematic follow-up drilling and advance the project toward a defined resource.

A Second Quebec Idea

CDN Maverick’s Quebec position also carries lithium exploration exposure, although that work is earlier-stage than the polymetallic program at Nottaway.

In August 2026, the company launched a nine-day backpack-drilling program across the Nottaway and Chabinoche claim groups. The 2-phase campaign planned 63 sample sites, per phase on a 900-meter reconnaissance grid, collecting both fresh bedrock and bottom-of-till material beneath glacial cover. Assay results will guide CDN Maverick’s approach to further lithium exploration in the area, and will assist in defining targets for the planned winter drill program at Nottaway.

The backpack drill targets lie along interpreted extensions of the Frotet-Evans Greenstone Belt and are being evaluated for lithium-cesium-tantalum pegmatites. Historical SOQUEM drilling at Nottaway encountered pegmatite intervals, and selected whole-rock geochemical ratios fell within ranges sometimes associated with the LCT pegmatite family. The Chabinoche claims are directly adjacent to Q2 Metals’ Cisco lithium discovery and demonstrate the same geological characteristics.

The backpack program is separate from the planned diamond drilling of Nottaway’s polymetallic targets. Nottaway’s conductive sulphide targets are the more advanced with drilling imminent while the lithium work is an inexpensive way to screen a broader land package for additional opportunities.

Investor Takeaway

The investment case for CDN Maverick rests on several straightforward points.

First, Nottaway is not based solely on surface sampling. Historical drilling confirmed sulphides, and later geophysics identified stronger conductors that may have been inaccurately tested. Second, the company has secured drilling authorization and has an independent technical report recommending a defined follow-up program.

Third, the project generator model gives management alternatives. If one property is better suited to a larger operator, CDN Maverick can seek a transaction while retaining a royalty or securities interest. If a target appears compelling enough to justify direct drilling, the company can concentrate capital there.

There is much more to discuss within this multifaceted story, and we will be doing just that over the coming months. Consider this an introduction to CDN Maverick, an interesting project generator offering exposure to multiple projects and multiple types of mineral assets in prime jurisdictions. Investors are encouraged to dig in and watch this space for further developments.
